To better prepare Montclair middle school students to meet the rigor of the Common Core State Standards for language arts and mathematics, a new co-ed Middle IMANI after school program is introduced at Glenfield Middle School.

The College Board honors IMANI with the Dr. Asa G. Hilliard Model of Excellence Award, given to individuals and organizations that have encouraged African American students to strive for academic success.

The Russ Berrie Making a Difference Award is presented to IMANI Executive Director JoAnn McCullough for her dedication and service to the Montclair community.

IMANI’s dedication to meeting the needs of underserved students in Montclair is recognized with the Walter A. Lack Distinguished Volunteer Award, presented by the Montclair Board of Education for “outstanding and consistent service and support to the public schools.”

The Mini-IMANI program is introduced at the elementary school level to improve reading and writing skills through child-driven, parent-supported book clubs.

IMANI collaborates with Montclair High School (MHS) to introduce summer enrichment programs in Literature and Algebra to help incoming freshmen strengthen their reading and math skills and more successfully navigate the challenging transition to high school.
